Facilities/New Construction
The Operations Office of Berkeley County School District oversees capital projects and our maintenance/facilities office.
As one of the fastest-growing school districts in South Carolina, a robust capital projects plan is necessary. Capital projects typically include but are not limited to new school construction and additions to existing schools and/or campuses.
Being a larger district, BCSD has many facilities to maintain. Regular facility services include: Automotive service, boiler service, carpentry, custodial service, electrical and instrumentation work, energy management, grounds service, HVAC service, kitchen service, painting, pest control, plumbing and welding.

The Berkeley County Board of Education met on August 9, 2022 and passed a resolution to place a one-percent sales tax on the November 2022 ballots of Berkeley County voters. The resolution was passed by Berkeley County voters with a 70 percent approval rate. It is now in place for seven calendar years, ending on December 31, 2029.
Commonly identified as a "penny tax," the one-percent tax is an Education Capital Improvements Sales and Use Tax. The Educational Capital Improvements Sales and Use Tax Act authorizes qualifying school districts in South Carolina to impose a one-percent sales tax for specific capital improvement projects.
