The Cane Bay Varsity Football team didn't have the start to the season that they would have liked, losing their first seven games. Great thing for the Cobras, it isn't always about how your start, but how you finish. The Cobras closed the regular season with their 3rd straight win, 28-23 over rival Berkeley on Friday night. The win combined with a 21-14 Stratford win over Goose Creek, allowed the Cobras to clinch their first football region championship in school history.
The Cobra defense forced 5 Stag turnovers in the game. Austin Seabrook, Malachi Dickerson and Jamari Blandin had interceptions, while Blandin and DJ Cobbs recovered fumbles for the Cobras. Scoring for the Cobras were Colby LaRocca-1 yard run, Coran Houpe-76 yard pass from LaRocca, Tyler Myers-1 yard run, Austin Seabrook-8 yard run.
The Cobras earned a bye in the 1st round of the 5A Division 1 Playoffs by virtue of being a region champion. The Cobras will host the winner of Ridge View/Spring Valley on Friday, November 22nd at 7:30pm at Cane Bay. Only SCHSL Passes will be accepted for playoff games.
