What do principals do all summer? Dr. Bradley is currently in Charlottesville, Virginia working with a district team at the Darden School of Business to improve instruction for all of our students!

We hope you're having a great summer! These young gentlemen certainly are. Dr. Bradley met them at the Board Room today to celebrate their successful completion of the inaugural THRIVE class. We are so proud of them and their two classmates who aren't pictured!

Did you hear the Buzz? These little guys certainly did. WVM is getting BRAND NEW furniture for the 24-25 school year. These sweet honey bees stopped in to check in on the progress for themselves! Not to worry, no bees were harmed in the renovations. Our own Ms. Mackenzie came and took the bees back to her house!

Want to join Chorus?! Email Ms. Malcher for more information. Parents, remember to sign onto Parent Portal and click on 'Class Registration' to request related arts classes for your student for the 2024-25 school year!

Rising 6th Grade Night is tonight! Any current 5th grade students and their families that are zoned for WVM are welcome to join to learn more about being a Westview Middle School Warrior!

As a way of continuing to promote child nutrition and adding to the many celebrations capping the end of the school year, Berkeley County School District’s Office of Child Nutrition Services will launch a special giveaway next week (May 20–24) that will offer some big prizes.
Elementary, middle and high school students eating lunch and/or breakfast next week will be entered into a drawing for prizes that include, but are not limited to:
*iPads
*Wireless earbuds/headphones
*Underwater cameras
*Projectors
*Action cameras
*Bluetooth speakers
Students will receive one entry into the drawing for each meal they eat. Winners will be drawn at random, and those who eat multiple meals will obviously have an increased chance of winning.

We had a wonderful evening celebrating some of Westview's finest teachers at the BCSD retirement dinner. Fortunately, despite formally entering the retirement system, you'll still see many of these faces with us next year!

Good afternoon, WVM families!
This is a reminder that state testing begins this week at school. WVM students will take the SC Ready Reading and Writing tests this Tuesday 5/7 and Wednesday 5/8. Please make sure students arrive to school on time so that we can begin testing ASAP.
Here is a link to parent resources on the state's website and attached is our full end of year calendar: https://ed.sc.gov/tests/assessment-information/student-and-parent-resources/
We look forward to seeing our students' hard work pay off! Please reach out to the school with any questions. Thanks.

Bravo to the Westview Middle Band. Our students traveled to James Island this morning and collectively received 27 Superior ratings, 3 Excellent ratings, and 2 students passed the theory test. In our history, Westview has achieved OPA 24 times, with an unbroken streak for the last 18 years. We are so proud of our students and eternally grateful to their director, Mr. Ronnie Ward

May the 4th be with you! BCSD Family Night with the Charleston Battery is going to be a blast!

WVM's math department is hard at work still learning and growing as we approach state testing. Seen here, Dr. Manchester's classes outside working on dot plots and data collection. Also seen here, our math teachers meeting and practicing OGAP techniques in PLC's.

Westview Middle is almost fully staffed for the 24-25 school year and we are looking to fill just two positions! We have an 8th grade combined Math/Science and a Special Education resource position. Come be a part of our team!

7th grade students celebrated Earth Day earlier this week by making "seed bombs". These were filled with local wildflower seeds, which they can plant to help pollinators and make Earth even more beautiful.

Westview Middle will host it's April school improvement council (SIC) meeting today at 3:30 at Westview Middle School. Parents and community members are invited and encouraged to attend. Contact Dr. Cowan (cowane@bcsdschools.net) for more information.

These Warriors are about to take the stage for their Jazz Performance Assessment at Sangaree Middle School. We're sure they'll do great!

Attention all 5th grade students zoned to attend Westview Middle School next school year: join us for Rising 6th Grade Night on May 23rd @6PM!

WVM Families - here is a great summer opportunity for your student(s)!

We're ready for another great week at WVM!
A few snapshots from last week: we watched the solar eclipse at dismissal, the Good Vibes Cart made its way around our halls, and our students are working hard to get ready for end of year testing (our 8th graders in Ms. Patula's math class seen here learning about volume of shapes).
