Did you know the current Berkeley County School District teacher of the year, Ms. Cayce Giddens, works right here at Westview Middle School? In addition to her teaching duties Ms. Giddens represents Berkeley County School District in local events. Recently her and her counterpart from DD2 were asked to toss the coin for the start of the match. We are so thankful for everything she does to represent the students and teachers of BCSD!

Don't forget to send in your registration and fee for our 2nd annual WVM Warriors Color Run!! The deadline for registration is Friday, April 12.

Visitors to Westview may have noticed some changes. Phase 1 of our 'facelift' was installed over break. Students and Staff were welcomed into to a new entryway this morning. Still to come: More Westview imagery in the front office and around campus and murals in the hallways.
If you missed it, a new bike rack was installed earlier this year between the elementary and middle school and all of the yellow caution curbing was repainted around the school. We have more exciting updates planned, so stay tuned!

On Saturday, March 30, 53 Orchestra students, under the direction of Mrs. Ambrose, and 116 students, under the direction of Mrs. Malcher, participated in the Carowinds Festival of Music, where they performed for ratings and comments. This was the Orchestra’s very first appearance at the festival, and the judges rated their performance as Excellent! Combined Chorus and Chamber Choir received Superior ratings. We are so proud of these students and their directors.

Spring has sprung! BCSD Spring Break runs April 1-5. All students return to school on April 8.

We celebrated our A honor roll students at our quarterly Principal's Honor Roll Breakfast this week. These students were treated to a great breakfast, including pancakes flipped by Dr. Bradley and Dr. Cowan and a fun cereal bar.

Wishing all of our students and families a happy and safe spring break! We will see everyone back at Westview Middle School Monday, April 8th.

A congratulations are in order for Mr. Ward and the Westview Middle School Honor Band! They received superior ratings from all four judges in class three earning with a superior distinction. Three out of four judges gave our band all A's in each caption. We could not be more proud of these students and Mr. Ward for all of their hard work!

In case you missed it: National Cereal day was March 7th and we never miss an opportunity to celebrate our staff. Our hard working faculty was treated to a cereal bar with a ton of childhood classics!

Spring has sprung! For some of us that means stuffy noses and itchy, watery eyes. For Mr. Eklund's class, that means gardening! Westview Middle School participates in MUSC Boeing's school-based wellness initiative and with their support we are building a vegetable garden for students to gain a wide variety of hands-on learning experiences. Conversations about nutrition, wellness, and the science of botany are all on the table for these students! #MakingAPositiveDifference #STEMEducation #MUSCHealth

We always feel lucky to teach our incredible students! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Our Unified students had a blast at the ballpark yesterday! It was so much fun even Dr. Bradley and the mayor of Moncks Corner joined us for a run around the bases. Thank you to the Moncks Corner Miracle League for letting us use the field.

Stop by Goose Creek High School this Saturday!

Westview Middle School's Chamber Choir traveled to the Summer’s Corner Performing Arts Center to perform for SCMEA’s Choral Performance Assessment (CPA). 30 hardworking 7th and 8th grade singers performed two three-part selections for three judges and then they sight-read thirty measures of a two part choral score for another judge. The judges awarded their performance level as a Superior with Distinction! We are so proud of these students!

Kona Ice is coming to recess next week!

Our school social workers do a tremendous job supporting our students! The pearls of wisdom they provide to our school communities are invaluable. Be sure to thank a school social worker this week for the difference they make in BCSD! #SSWWeek2024 #makingapositivedifference
